pH Miracle Diet
Dr. Robert Young
The pH diet was designed to help us to interact with food in an innovative way. The need for balance between alkaline and acid is
first and foremost. This balance aids the healthy flow of blood through the system and keeps cellular growth and
development going at optimum levels. By reducing destructive acid levels with the added alkaline of this diet, a whole
host of benefits can result including higher sustainable energy and better health. The main proponent of this alkaline
diet is Dr. Robert Young.
Dr. Young claims that a diet containing 80% alkaline producing foods and 20% acid producing foods will lead people to
achieve healthier bodies and healthier lives. Dr. Young's research has surmised that the best pH level for the human body
is 7.35. The pH spectrum ranges from 1 to 14 with 1 being highly acid and 14 being highly alkaline. When the body is
leaning only moderately towards alkaline he claims that people should supplement their diets with more alkaline. Dr.
Robert Young stresses that excess acid can ravage the body and make it more prone to serious health problems and illness.
Dr. Robert Young first started his studies at the University of Utah in the early 70's, where he studied biology and
business. His qualifications include an MS in nutrition, a DSc in science, and a PhD in nutrition and an ND from Clayton
College of Natural Health. Dr. Young's critics sometimes question the validity of the school from which he received his
degrees but the impact of his teachings is undeniable. Many people have been helped to better health through a regime of
increased fruits, vegetables and water consumption. He also contends that avoiding caffeine and alcohol helps to maintain
vitality.
Dr. Young is also a solid proponent of pleomorphism, how bacteria can morph shape dramatically or mutate into other
morphological forms. This idea has divided the microbiologists in to two schools of thought, the pleomorphists and the
monomorphists. Currently the monomorphist's viewpoint of microbiology has emerged as the dominant theory. Modern medical
science does appear to support the monomorphic theory of cell development where the idea is that cells derive from
previously formed cells of the same size and shape.
Dr. Young also holds retreats where he teaches students about the Alkaline Diet as well as live blood cell examinations
during an in-depth microscopy seminar. Critics of his live blood cell examination claim that his tests don't have any
scientific validity, however Dr. Young counters by citing many papers and sources that validate his work including
Understanding Acid-Base by Benjamin Abeloh, M.D., a lecturer of medicine at Yale school of Medicine, and Clinical
Physiology of Acid-Base by Burton David Rose, M.D., a clinical professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School.
According to his website, Dr. Young is a member of the American
Society of Microbiologists, the American Naturopathic Association, and an honorary member of the Connecticut Holistic
Health Associations, the Presidents Council at Brigham Young University. He is also a consultant for InnerLight, Inc. and
an advisor to Dean Lawrence Carter at the Martin Luther King Chapel, Morehouse College. He was also honored by Professor
Lawrence Carter at Morehouse College with an induction into the collegium’s of scholars as well as placed on the advisory
board. He has been praised by Professor Carter for his efforts in understanding the balance of body chemistry and the
effects of this balance on health.
